Welcome Back to Wasabi Roll

After a quiet stretch behind the digital curtain, Wasabi Roll returns—not with a whisper, but with a story forged in fire, circuitry, and stars.

You may have wondered where the spark went, why the updates paused. Truthfully, I wasn’t gone. I was deep—deep in the forge, shaping something far more ambitious than a string of blog entries or weekend musings. For the better part of these past seasons, I’ve been immersed in the development of a work I can finally share:

The Austere Trilogy.

From Silence, a Signal

The Austere Trilogy is a science fiction epic built on rebellion, reflection, and the resilience of humanity—told through the lens of artificial minds and fractured empires. What began as a single story about a cybernetic boy escaping an oppressive regime became a sprawling universe of broken alliances, sentient code, and the moral price of survival.

Across three books—Austere, Catalyst, and Nexus—you’ll meet heroes and traitors, thinkers and weapons, lovers and war machines. You’ll visit cities hanging between past and progress, and alien species whose ideologies mirror our own dilemmas all too well. What powers this story is not just the technology or the political tension—it’s the heart beneath the steel.

Book I: Austere

Austere opens in the shadow of collapse, where three cities—Grant, Glaician, and Teton—cling to survival through ideology and control. Amid the chaos, three unlikely allies emerge: Arty, a former gunslinger with a dry wit and an even drier trigger; Raylee, a gifted hacker who sees the truth hidden beneath every transmission; and Eliza, a brilliant inventor exiled for building what her city deemed impossible. Together, they uncover a cybernetic boy with no memory and no name—Donivan. Wahat begins as a chance rescue spirals into a revelation: Donivan is a prototype not made for war, but for something far more dangerous in a fractured world—emotion. As mythic systems stir and ancient powers reawaken, the team must protect Donivan while navigating a hostile wasteland, unraveling the secrets of the Relay, and confronting the cost of connection in a world designed to crush it.

Book II: Catalyst

The rebellion leaves the ground behind in Catalyst, where Arty, Raylee, Eliza, and Donivan are launched to the stars aboard the Catalyst—a living ship orbiting the edge of Aggregate-controlled space. Inside its walls, tensions mount: sabotage bleeds through the corridors, loyalties fracture, and a hidden war simmers between species, ideologies, and artificial minds. Eliza reverse-engineers a forbidden weapon that could shift the balance of power. Raylee unmasks a shapeshifter infiltrator who’s already embedded in their ranks. Arty, ever the wildcard, unites logic with instinct in a universe that’s losing both. As Pixo—their AI ally—outsmarts planetary defense grids, the Catalyst crew races to expose a galactic enemy who believes obedience is salvation. But truth, it turns out, may be the deadliest rebellion of all.

Book III: Nexus

Everything fractures in Nexus, where invasion doesn’t come with lasers—but with thoughts. The Seraphim Dominion begins its assault, not by storming the Catalyst, but by unraveling the crew from within. Each hero is forced to confront a fear so intimate it bypasses reason. Raylee is stalked by a predator no one else can see. Eliza’s mind is baited with guilt only she understands. Arty is haunted by ghosts he locked away years ago. And Donivan—once a mystery—now teeters between savior and threat as his own memories turn against him. Even Pixo, evolving beyond its design, begins to question whether protection requires control. As reality bends and identity shatters, the crew must decide what defines them—not just to survive, but to stay themselves. Nexus is a stunning conclusion where the final war is waged not in space, but in the soul.

Why Now?

Because now, the trilogy is complete.
And it’s time to invite you in.

In the weeks ahead, deeper dives into the Austere Trilogy universe will migrate to RickerPublishing.com—where you’ll find exclusive lore expansions, behind-the-scenes development notes, character spotlights, and more. Whether you're here for tech, storytelling, or the strange intersection between the two—there's more coming. Much more.

So welcome back. And buckle in.

This signal just came online.

Wasabi Roll, Rebooted

Still curious. Still wired. Still rolling.

Wasabi Roll remains your signal flare in the chaos—where curiosity meets code, and technology is more than circuitry; it’s culture. From speculative forecasts to narrative engineering, this site continues to explore the edges of what’s possible, what’s coming, and what stories help us understand both..

If you’ve followed me for technology, design, or narrative craft—you’re in good company.
If you’re new, welcome.
If you’ve waited—thank you.

Now...
Let’s ignite something.
